Meet Illinois Super Lawyer George S. Bellas
Illinois Super Lawyer George S. Bellas was born and raised in Chicago. As a child he attended Assumption (Panagia) Church. He is a graduate of Plato School. George traces his Greek roots to Northern Epiros. His parents came to the U.S. when they were children.
George believes in giving back to the community, and his church. He currently attends St. Nectarios Church in Palatine, and has served on the Parish Council. He previously served on the board of directors of the Des Plaines Chamber of Commerce, Village of Palatine Planning Commission, and the board of directors of Volunteers of Northwest Suburban Chicago.
George attended Loyola University, where he earned a degree in Psychology. He went on to study law at Loyola University. This Illinois Super Lawyer is admitted to the Illinois State Bar, Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois, Federal Trial Bar. He’s also admitted Pro Hac Vice in Indiana, Wisconsin, Connecticut, Washington DC, Ohio, New York, Arizona, South Carolina, Texas;,and Second Circuit Court of Appeals.
The Illinois Super Lawyer began his career in 1973, as an Assistant State’s Attorney in Will County. In 1976 he was appointed Special State’s Attorney, Will County. In this capacity, he successfully argued the case of People ex rel. Rudman v. Rini, 64 Ill.2d 321 (Ill.,1976) before the Illinois Supreme Court.
For more than 40 years, George has represented small business owners. He’s also been involved with complex commercial and business lawsuits as well as class action lawsuits,, mass torts, and SUV rollover cases.
In 1976, he went into private practice, founding George S. Bellas and Associates. In 1992, he became principal and senior partner at the newly established Bellas & Wachowski, in Park Ridge, IL. Since 1996, he has served as Of Counsel for the Clifford Law Offices.
George has been published widely, and is a sought-after speaker. He’s a member of the American Association for Justice, Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, American Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association, Northwest Suburban Bar Association, and Public Justice Foundation.
