Kouzina, coming up this November 5 at National Hellenic Museum, will feature top chefs putting their own “twist on the classics.” The event wouldn’t be complete without some great Greek wine and sweets to round out the event.

 

Premium Wine Tasting is Back!

Kouzina is a great place to showcase the top-quality wines coming out of Greece. The Premium Wine Tasting isn’t brand new to Kouzina, but after a year hiatus, it’s back and better than ever. Event-goers will have the opportunity to learn about and sample some Greece’s finest wines.

Diamond Wine Importers

Kouzina provides a great way for Ted Diamantis of Diamond Wine Importers to achieve his top goal: to educate people about Greek wine.

He established Diamond Wine Importers in 1992, because he wholeheartedly believed that Greece was the source of some of the greatest wines in the world. Since then, he’s compiled a portfolio of what he calls, “the best artisan, vineyard-driven producers who are fully committed to sustainability from vine to bottle… who embody the true winemaking spirit.” As a former board member of the National Hellenic Museum, Ted has been involved with KOUZINA from its inception, and served as chairperson for the first few years of Kouzina. He’s delighted to be involved again this year.

 

“I have a historic connection to Kouzina, and I stay involved to support the National Hellenic Museum, to help promote Greek food products and the spirit of Greek culture, and importantly, to enlighten and expose people to quality Greek wine. The Premium Wine Tasting is a vital component of this event. It allows people to be exposed to the wines, and develop their interest. It also gives us the ability, as importers and suppliers, to showcase the indigenous varieties and the higher quality wines in the market.”

Since 1974, PanHellenic Pastry Shop has been a Greektown staple, providing scrumptious desserts for weddings, baptisms, other events, and even just a quiet place to sit and have a coffee and a sweet. While it has charm, don’t think of it as an old school kafenio or zaharoplasteio. Second generation generation owner/operators are siblings Athena and James Manolakos have created offerings as well as a setting that customers of all ages can enjoy.

And I like Kouzina, because I feel like a lot of people, especially Greeks, are afraid of trying new places and new things.
