Community Concert Series Goes Greek

School district’s Cultural and Performing Arts Program to feature a Greek Celebration, with Rythmos Band.


High School District 214 in Arlington Heights, IL is going Greek. They’ll get their “OPA” on, this November 22, with a special concert of Greek music.


World Music Concert Series

The Cultural & Performing Arts series, under the District’s Community Education program, features at least two countries each year.


“The concert is part of our World Stage Series, which is sponsored in part by the Illinois Arts Council. Each year we present two shows, each focusing on a different culture,” said Nelia Bernabe, Supervisor, District 214 Community Education, and Development Coordinator, District 214 Education Foundation.



OPA! Time

The second show in the series, called Opa! A Greek Celebration featuring Rythmos Band, will take place on November 22, at 3:00 pm, at the Forest View Educational Center, 2121 S.Goebbert Road in Arlington Heights. Chicagoans know Rythmos Band from bouzoukia nights at Premier Lounge in Glenview, IL, and from festivals and events throughout the city.

Advance tickets are $20, $22 at the door. Seniors 62 and over, who live within the District 214 boundaries (Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove, Elk Grove Village, parts of Des Plaines, Mount Prospect, Prospect Heights, Rolling Meadows and Wheeling), can join the Gold Card Club, and purchase discounted tickets at $18. Let’s show them how the Greeks party! With great music from the Rythmos Band, young and old will be dancing in the aisles. OPA!
