A variety of special exhibits and displays will be highlighted throughout the grounds at the 72nd annual Holiday Folk Fair International, America’s premiere multi-cultural festival, to be held Fri., Nov. 20 – Sun., Nov. 22, 2015, at the State Fair Park Exposition Center at in West Allis, Wis.

The Sisters Cities International 2015 Young Artist and Authors Showcase entitled “Connecting Communities for Peace and Prosperity” will be on display at Folk Fair, as youth from around the world, including the United States, Greece, Japan, China, Ireland, and Russia used artwork, poems, and essays to highlight the important role that exchanges play in connecting people, cultures, and ideas.

Skilled artisans from distant lands have created characteristic treasures to be on display in the International Bazaar, presented by Star Satellite, providing a distinguished shopping experience.  Attendees will find products from more than 20 ethnicities, including Finnish, Irish, Italian, Mexican, Norwegian, and Thai.

A program of the International Institute of Wisconsin, Holiday Folk Fair International celebrates the cultural heritage of the people living in southeastern Wisconsin. This year’s theme, “Celebrate the Culture of Light,” will allow Fair-goers the opportunity to learn the ways in which light is incorporated into the music, food, dance, art, and crafts of those that participate in Folk Fair.

The three-day event features the All Nations Theater with traditional music and dance, the World Café offering traditional dishes, the International Stage where young people perform their ethnic dances, the Tanzhauz (Music Pavilion) where attendees dance and sing along with a variety of musical styling’s, the Coffee House where patrons enjoy a beverage and baked goods while listening to talented musicians, Heritage Lane with unique traditions and customs through interactive exhibits, the International Bazaar presented by Star Satellite where cultural artifacts create a unique shopping experience, and the Callen Construction Chef’s Stage featuring local chefs preparing traditional cuisine.

Greece at Folk Fair

Greece is represented at this year’s Holiday Folk Fair International, thanks to the community of SS Constantine and Helen Church in Milwaukee.

Entertainment will include Greek dance performances by the Dorian Greek Dance Troupe, as well as the children’s group, Ionian Dance Troupe. There will also be a Greek food booth, featuring scrumptious culinary delights.
