National Hellenic Museum Gala 2017

The National Hellenic Museum presents a night of philanthropy and festivities at the NHM Gala 2017 on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Navy Pier in the Aon Grand Ballroom. Gala 2017, “Stories of our Journey”, will feature Elli Kokkinou and Christos Menidiatis for what is sure to be an unforgettable evening. Athens-born singer Elli Kokkinou is one Greece’s most celebrated recording artists and has released five original albums including double platinum, platinum, and gold hits.

Christos Menidiatis, son of the famed artist Michael Menidiatis, has had multiple successful albums including one of the top albums in Greece, “Στ’Αστέρια Κάνω Μια Ευχή” (I Make a Wish on the Stars).

Dr. Laura Calamos Nasir, President of the National Hellenic Museum (NHM) spoke about this year’s gala.

“Gala 2017 will be our most exciting yet, with a unique opportunity to share the amazing work of the Museum and

how we portray and celebrate our Greek heritage and the Hellenic legacy through dynamic educational outreach for all ages.”

Dr. Calamos invites the entire community to join the celebration, and be part of NHM.

“We need our community to join the Museum in raising awareness and funds for important preservation work on Greek American history. NHM has made this conservation commitment to our community, particularly in the areas of building archives, gathering oral histories, and the digitization of our memories.”

The National Hellenic Museum (NHM) portrays and celebrates Greek heritage and the Hellenic legacy. With a growing and rich depository of over 20,000 artifacts, the museum highlights the contributions of Greeks and Greek-Americans to the American mosaic and inspires curiosity about visitors’ own family journeys though cultural expression, oral history, and experiential education.

Located in Chicago’s Greektown, NHM provides lifelong learning for the whole community through classes, exhibitions and programs that spark inquiry and discussion about the broader issues in our lives.
